Regular customers at that time included the Argentine Navigation Company who took passenger ships and train ferries for service in the River Plate.

 

 

 

Hard times returned during the Depression in the 1930s and a significant blow was dealt when long term customer LNER place the order for a new paddle steamer with Fairfield at Govan. Although they produced a masterpiece in the JEANIE DEANS of 1931, the LNER returned to Inglis four years later for the very novel diesel-electric paddle vessel TALISMAN.

 

 

 

The Second World War brought busy times again with numerous coasters and 18 oil tankers for the Ministry of War Transport being built at Pointhouse. Naval craft includes 14 corvettes for the Royal Navy and 1 for the Royal Canadian Navy.
